Classic Plague Doctor mask, imported to Australia from Venice, Italy. Handmade in plaster, comes with a certificate of authenticity and ties with a ribbon.

Plague doctors in the 17th and 18th centuries wore these masks to protect them from the plague. The long beaks were filled with aromatic spices and herbs to counteract the putrid air believed to be the cause of the disease. Chillingly macabre, they make excellent Halloween, Medieval and Masquerade costumes.
